What to expect
I offer therapy for individuals. The most important aspect of therapy is that you feel your therapist is an ally and a good fit for you.
As you grow and heal you will gain a feeling of control in your life and develop new healthy coping mechanisms. Practicing what you learn helps you to develop new habits that become automatic responses when you are faced with stress. I use mindfulness techniques to help you observe your mind and thinking from an outside perspective and respond with gentle kindness and respect. I will help you learn to be your own ally and friend and tap into your own resources.
When appropriate I also use Internal Family Systems to help you explore aspects of your internal world.
I practice EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) for more difficult issues and past traumas. EMDR is thoroughly researched and established as an effective technique for single instance traumas and it also useful for a wide range of other issues, including phobias and behaviors. It works by activating both sides of your brain to change your emotions around trauma. If you have questions, I'm happy to talk to you about it.

Online Counseling
Initial intake appointments are by video. We can discuss continuing by video or in person after the intake appointment. I use confidential, encrypted video software that can be used on a computer, tablet, or smartphone.
Specific Issues Treated
Are thoughts of difficult experiences you've had controlling your thinking? How's your sleep? Do you have nightmares? Are you experiencing difficult memories or feeling alone? Have you experienced a trauma? I can help you move past those thoughts and view them as something in the past instead of something that continues to interrupt your current life.
